Energinmotion Physical Theatre is a company I co-founded with the Mexican performer and cabaret artist Antonio Blanco. We have a common background in training corporeal mime and physical theatre, as well as being former members of the international company Theatre de L’Ange Fou in London. Based in the UK, Energinmotion was active between 2010 and 2013. It aimed to devise new work that raised questions, was bold and above all communicated feelings and ideas that mattered to our personal history. It was of the interest of this collaborative partnership to explore realism and the progression towards stylisation. Our Latin backgrounds were very present in the creative work, and were usually explored through the use of writings of Latin American origin as a strong source for devising original pieces. Energinmotion projects included: La Ola, a short piece based in the story Mi Vida Con La Ola (My Life With the Wave) by Octavio Paz; Be Lonely With Me, a site specific piece based on the characters from the book Earwitness – 50 Characters by Elias Canetti, performed at the St Pancras International Station; and the devised show Where the Nights Are Blue and Electric, which was inspired by a common search for a definition of what love is. More information about the work we developed can be found at the company’s blog which is available for reference at: energinmotion.wordpress.com
